A high‐performing dehydrated seaweed extract, Thorvin for Plants Foliar is an exceptional nutrient source for plant growth and vigor. It is cost-effective and easy to apply via foliar spray, fertigation or transplant dips.  Thorvin for Plants Foliar is excellent for vegetables, fruits, lawns, bedding plants, ornamental plants (both indoors and out) and pastures as a complex trace mineral and phytonutrient profile for living soils and healthy plants.  Derived from nutrient-rich Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed, simply dilute with water and spray on plants, run through irrigation, or use as a transplant dip.

For outdoor gardens, lawns or crops, apply 10 oz. to 1 lb. per acre. Dissolve 10 ounces Thorvin for Plants Foliar in 1 gallon of water. Dilute further to cover 1 acre. Smaller applications mix ¼ teaspoon per gallon of water (covers up to 300 square feet).

What are the benefits of kelp for plants?

  • Boosts the efficiency of any soil or potting mix to get the most from a limited space
  • Great for crops like lettuce and potatoes that demand very high levels of potassium
  • One of the most effective ways to increase the size and storage life of a crop
  • Enhances root mass, making it ideal for all plants
  • Natural and organic, making it right for any chemical-free growing environment

What are some tips for foliar feeding?

Foliar feeding works well with all types of sprayers, including hand trigger sprayer, garden or backpack sprayer, power pack boom or mist blower. Fine mist particles are most effective. Foliar nutrient spraying is simple and effective. These tips are not “musts” but may be of help:

  • Add a good clean surfactant or soap to make the water solution wetter and improve leaf absorption.
  • Mix concentrate with enough water to spray evenly over entire leaf surface, including undersides if possible.
  • Neutralized water, pH 6.5 to 7.5, increases effectiveness. Vinegar, for alkaline water or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), for acid water, can be used in small quantities to neutralize.
  • Spray in the early morning after the dew is off the plants and plant metabolism is high. Late evening is also a good time to spray.
  • Spray when soil is dry.
  • Our research indicates that a high soil phosphate level increases the effectiveness of foliar growth promoters such as liquid kelp.
