Coast of Maine’s Mount Desert Island Blend Organic Cactus & Succulent Mix is a ready-to-use mix that consists of premium sphagnum peat, fully-cured organic compost, sand, aged bark, biochar, fish bone meal and kelp meal.

Cacti and succulents have evolved to hold water in the tissues of their pads and stems and subsequently, require a well-drained soil.  Our unique blend contains just the right amounts of sand, aged bark and perlite to provide proper drainage.  At the same time, the soil must be able to retain an adequate amount of moisture in the soil for the roots to absorb these nutrients.  The addition of fish bone meal promotes healthy root growth and kelp meal adds essential micro-nutrients.
